Quick overview
Trezor‑Suite is the official desktop application for Trezor hardware wallets (Model T, Trezor One). It provides a secure environment to initialize devices, manage accounts across multiple blockchains, sign transactions, update firmware, and integrate with trusted third‑party services while ensuring private keys remain on your device.
Download & install
Always download Trezor‑Suite from the official Trezor website. Select the installer suitable for your OS (Windows, macOS, Linux). Verify checksums or signatures when provided to ensure file integrity. Run the installer and open Suite to begin setup.
Set up: create or restore
On a new device you will create a PIN and be presented with a recovery seed (12/24 words). Record the seed offline on paper or — preferably — on a metal backup. Never store your seed digitally. To restore, choose the restore flow and enter your seed using the device interface when prompted.
Daily use: send & receive
Generate receiving addresses in Suite and confirm them on-device before sharing. When sending funds, compose the transaction in Suite and verify address, amount and fee on your Trezor's screen — approve only when everything matches.
Security best practices
- Never share your recovery seed; Trezor support will never ask for it.
- Store the seed offline in multiple secure locations; metal backups resist fire and water.
- Use a strong and unique PIN; too many wrong attempts will wipe the device (protection against brute force).
- Verify all transaction details on the hardware display, not just in the app UI.
- Beware phishing—bookmark official Trezor URLs and avoid downloading Suite from third parties.
Troubleshooting
If the device is not detected, try another USB cable or port, ensure the device is unlocked, restart Suite and check OS permissions. For firmware issues, apply updates only from within Suite and follow on-screen instructions carefully. If problems persist, contact official Trezor support.
Advanced & power-user tips
Consider passphrase protection for added layers (understand the risk: losing the passphrase means losing access). Use multiple accounts for privacy, pair Suite with trusted explorers for verification, and for high-value holdings explore multisig arrangements using multiple devices.
Recovery & device loss
If you lose the device, restore your wallet on a new Trezor using your recovery seed. If the seed is lost as well, funds are unrecoverable—plan and test backups beforehand.
